Nowata’s Wild Turkey Fest and Fourth of July Celebration

Festivities are being planned for Nowata’s Annual Wild Turkey Festival and
Fourth of July Celebration.  The event will again be held at the Jack Gordon
Park on Sunday, July 4th, with activities beginning at 2:30pm and ending with
the fireworks at dusk.
This year there are some new additions to the Fourth of July celebration which
includes a live country music show at Jack Gordon Park leading up to the
fireworks display at dusk. Hootie Creek Band will be bringing their Saturday night
country music show to Nowata, featuring performers Branson, Mo and
Claremore, Ok.   The free show will begin at 7:30 pm and end at dusk when the
fireworks display begins.  The country music show and fireworks are being
provided for the celebration by donations with our largest contributors being the
Harmon Foundation, City of Nowata and Chamber of Commerce.

The event will coincide with the Wild Turkey Fest at the park which is always a
big hit with its games, Turtle Races, Turkey Drop and Auction.  The festival will
kick off at 2:30pm at the park with hamburgers, hot dogs and homemade ice
cream for sale from the Fire Department, followed by free children’s games, the
turtle races, auction, and the famous Turkey Drop.  And it wouldn’t be a 4th of
July celebration without a watermelon feed which is being provided this year by
Dude and Carroll Bell at the firemen’s tent around 5:00pm.

Turkey Drop chances are $1.00 each and are now on sale at the Nowata Area
Chamber of Commerce, ARVEST Bank, Regent Bank, Jane Phillips Nowata
Health Center, Nowata Country Club, TH Rogers, Nowata Tag Office and Katie’s
Daylight Donuts.

Bring your lawn chairs and plan to celebrate the day in Nowata!!  We guarantee
it is the only place in the country you will be able to see a turkey drop on the 4th
of July!!
