Nowata Chamber of Commerce
The festivities for Nowata’s Annual Wild Turkey Festival and Fourth of July
Celebration proved to be a big hit with everyone! In spite of the chance of rain,
the event began on time at 2:30pm at the Jack Gordon Park and ended with a
beautiful fireworks show at dusk. The Nowata Fire Department served up
hamburgers, hot dogs and homemade ice cream for sale, followed by free
children’s games, the turtle races, fundraiser auction, free watermelon feed and
the famous Turkey Drop. Due to the 80% chance of rain in the evening hours,
the Chamber of Commerce cancelled the 8:00pm country music show.
The games, Turtle Races, Turkey Drop and Auction went off without a hitch.
Winners of the Turtle Races were 1st Place -Gracey Carly, 2nd Place Shiloh
Drake and 3rd Place , Caleb Drake. The $500.00 Turkey Drop was won by
Josh Jackson of Collinsville .
