Nowata Chamber of Commerce
The first workday of Nowata's Second Saturday volunteer season was finally
kicked off on Saturday, April 10,  at Double Creek Cove.  The projects this year
are a part of the Great American Clean Up  going on across the state in
coordination with Keep Oklahoma Beautiful.   Seven volunteers turned out to
work in the beautiful weather - painting and repairing playground equipment,
painting the bathroom, entrance sign and dock poles.  New volleyball equipment
was installed and large rocks were placed at the entrance to the campground.
Areas were cleared of brush and fallen limbs. And around noon, the group was
treated to a wiener roast complete with s’mores.     The volunteer crew included:
Nancy Oglesby , Maggie Blevins, Shannon Hill, Albert and Anita Hayworth, and
Tom and Billie Roane

The May project will include working downtown removing the weeds and grass
on the sidewalks and general clean up to get ready for the Nowata All School
Reunion coming up in June.  Anyone is welcome to come and work for a few
hours and be treated to a picnic lunch.  The day will begin by meeting at 8:30am
at Spikes Railroad Park downtown on Saturday, May 8.  Come join us for a fun
time, working together to help clean up and beautify Nowata.   For more
information, contact Tom or Billie Roane at 559 2634.
