Nowata Chamber of Commerce
Hello, everyone
The 2010 Nowata Area Chamber Banquet held Thursday evening was a great
success with nearly 200 in attendance! Rep. Steve Martin graciously introduced
our guest speaker Hardy Watkins who spoke about the positive economic impact
that tourism and recreation is having across Oklahoma, including northeastern
Oklahoma, encouraging all to work together to be successful.
Bill Maddux did an outstanding job presenting recognition awards to Nowata
area individuals and businesses as did Peggy McGehee in presenting citations
from US Senator Dan Boren.
The brisket dinner was wonderful thanks to Kathy Fitzwater and Charlotte
Smalley for cooking, kitchen helpers Michele Faught, Davene Mayhew, Donna &
Willie Schonherr, Judy Weirather, John Fitzwater and Anita LaRue and the FFA
Chapters from both Nowata and Ok Union Schools who served. Scout Troop
777 is to be commended on the presentation of the colors and pledge and a big
thank you to Pastor Jim Winslow for delivering the invocation.
Connie Pearsall, Nancy Oglesby, Bonnie Workman and Suzan Perkins did a
beautiful job decorating and our appreciation to Larry Osborne for the sound
and video design.
We would also like to thank the following businesses and individuals for
donations for the banquet: Raymond Cline, James Arnold, Charlie & Joyce
Hawkins, Maggie Blevins, Doug Maddux, Sen. John Ford and Arvest Bank and to
the following for providing door prizes: Verdigris Valley Electric Cooperative,
Karon Miller, Benjamin Funeral Services, Your Ads At Work, Rogers State
University, City of Nowata Beautification Committee, Nowata VFW and Arvest
Bank.
We would also like to thank the press for their coverage of the banquet including
Doug Boughner, KGCT TV, Becky Clark at the Nowata Star, Bartlesville
Examiner and Suzan Perkins of the Nowata Oklahoma Blog. And our greatest
thanks to the Chamber member businesses and individuals for their continued
support of the Nowata Area Chamber of Commerce.
