Everyone is invited to attend and/or participate in the All American Veterans Day
Parade at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011 in Nowata. This is a
combined effort of citizens and area businesses to honor our great nation's
veterans this year.
Line up will start at 10:15 a.m. at the Nowata City-County Public Library and the
parade begins at 11:00 a.m. Parade route will start at the library, turning right on
Cherokee and stopping at the center of town for an opening ceremony, and
then proceeding across the railroad tracks to Willow. After turning right onto
Willow, the parade will disband.
This year's theme is "Defenders of Freedom." Trophies will be awarded in five
categories-Theme, Originality, Best Walking/Marching, Most Patriotic and Best
Organizational. Registration is not mandatory ,but would greatly assist in the
organization of the event.
Winners will be contacted and trophies may be picked up at the Nowata Area
Chamber of Commerce after Monday, November 14. Everyone and anyone may
be in the parade; no float necessary. Trikes, bikes, motorcycles, strollers and
horses are welcome.
Come on out-bring family and friends- and help honor those who have served
and are still serving.
There is no registration fee but registration forms are available at the Nowata
Area Chamber of Commerce, 918-273-2301 or you may contact Kimberly
Smoak directly at 918-273-0884 or 918-237-9643 or email Smoak at
